Colin Monk - University of Brighton

Colin Monk is Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Business and Marketing) at the University of Brighton.

Colin Monk University of BrightonHe started his career with Exxon in London and, after attending Stanford Business School, worked for Baxter Healthcare in Chicago, Brazil and France.  Returning to London he started a company licensing new technology in liquid separation and became a governor of the local polytechnic which inspired a career move to higher education.

His remit has recently extended to include a focus on social as well as economic engagement.

The University of Brighton is ranked as one of the top modern universities in the UK and remains the only modern university to be named ‘Sunday Times University of the Year’. The university has more than 22,000 students and offers over 500 courses, delivered at five campuses in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings. With an annual turnover of over £150m, the university employs more than 2,400 members of staff, and contributes over £330m to the regional economy.
